About The Position

This position is for an Optics Fabrication Group Leader at ASML's Wilton, CT facility. The role involves leading Compressed Work Week Front End Night (Sunday-Tuesday, alternate Saturday 6pm-6am) operations for Milling, Grinding, and Polishing. The Group Leader will manage over 15 optical technicians across several work centers, ensuring safe, on-time delivery of high-quality products. Key responsibilities include driving improvements in process and operational effectiveness and efficiency, fostering new product and process adoption through collaboration with Production and Development Engineers, and promoting a team-oriented environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma required.
  • At least 5 years of supervisory / leadership experience in manufacturing or related field OR 5 years of direct optics fabrication experience desired.
  • Strong manufacturing operation acumen.
  • Strong LEAN manufacturing and Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Computer proficiency with MS Outlook 365 applications.
  • Knowledge of SAP or comparable ERP system.
  • Familiar with ISO9001 and ISO14001.
  • Strong ability to observe and respond to people and situations while monitoring and developing your team and their performance.
  • Strong ability to coach team members to uncover their hidden potential.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior optical fabrication experience a plus, but not required.
  • Direct working experience in a ISO certified environment desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining alignment of individual, team, and area goals to department and Company objectives.
  • Creating employee annual performance goals and coaching and mentoring technicians.
  • Partnering with employees to create professional development action plans.
  • Developing competencies within the team focusing on technical skills, continuous improvement, teambuilding, and cross-training.
  • Leading a team of technicians to deliver precision optics while meeting or exceeding Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as 5S safety, product first pass yield, on-time delivery, production lead time reduction, labor efficiency and accuracy, and workforce development.
  • Setting up detailed production schedules within Manufacturing Plan constraints and available resources, ensuring progress and output at minimal cost.
  • Solving problems, providing recovery plans, and informing relevant parties of deviations.
  • Realizing the planned output of all deliverables of Volume Production.
  • Ensuring the availability and usefulness of production means in cooperation with Production Engineering.
  • Ensuring sufficient know-how and training of team members.
  • Highlighting product or performance issues and escalating requests for help.
  • Facilitating identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partnering with Production Engineering to systematically improve processes for increased efficiency and product quality.
  • Displaying structured systematic problem solving, innovative problem resolution, and encouraging new ideas and methods.
  • Leading by example to achieve world-class quality and performance.
  • Working effectively with peers across shifts to meet goals and maintain production continuity.
  • Communicating effectively to gain buy-in from technicians and influence department leaders.
