About The Position

Responsible for the optical site with respect to overall patient satisfaction, optical sales, and weekly and monthly reporting. Performs all optician duties in addition to the lead responsibilities to ensure effective and efficient functioning of the clinic site.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
  • Three years' optical field experience
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Frequent use of vision for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, sitting, squatting and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Occasional use of vision to judge distances and spatial relationships.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional lifting/moving patients.
  • Occasional use of smell to detect/recognize odors.
  • Occasional driving.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts and/or participates in interdepartmental meetings.
  • Responsible for day-to-day transactions and ensures that inventory is kept up with respect to frame products, cases, cleaners, and all other sundry products.
  • Purchases and manages on-site inventory.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with the frame and lens vendor representatives and the wholesale lab representatives.
  • Develops and maintains a close working relationship with Ophthalmology and Optometry physicians and their staff.
  • Monitors service levels from current lens labs and reports any decrease in service to Clinical Manager, Optical.
  • Maintains knowledge and proficiency of the optical software system for purposes of sales data entry and training new staff on the system.
  • Sends all weekly and monthly reports to Clinical Manager, Optical on a timely basis.
  • Reviews accounts receivables report on a regular basis for those accounts that need follow-up.
  • Coordinates efforts for achieving sales goals and overall profitability of site.
  • Controls cost of goods within budgeted levels.
  • Reviews finance software data on a regular basis for accuracy and reporting discrepancies.
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
