This is a retail optical position with a FTE of 0.9 (72 hours per two week pay period) working 8/12-hour day/evening shifts. Wednesdays are the designated day off. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 8-5pm. No weekends.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description
  • Certified Optician - American Board of Opticianry required upon hire

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years optician experience
  • 2+ years knowledge of complete eye exam tests and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Conducts fitting, ordering, adjusting and minor repair of eyeglasses and contact lenses.
  • Coordinates care from receiving the eyewear prescription, measurements, ordering and working successfully with eyewear vendors and labs to dispense eyewear.
  • Maintains customer and vendor schedules.
  • Answers calls, questions and concerns from customers and suppliers.
  • Assists patients with eyewear returns and minor adjustments.
  • Performs eyewear measurements and completes the prescription order.
  • Assists in teaching contact lens insertion, removal & care of contact lenses.
  • Place orders for contact lenses, as per doctors prescription.
  • Receive contact lenses and call patients letting them know of product arrival.
  • Ensures trial contact lens supplies are monitored and maintained.
  • Collects retail payments and daily reconciliation.
  • Department and inventory organization and maintenance.
  • Works with lab and vendors to maintain a current, quality selection of eyewear.
  • Orders supplies and frames to maintain optical shop inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned.
