About The Position

Lumentum is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Optical Verification Technician to join the R&D Design Verification Testing (DVT) team in the Networking based in Ottawa, Ontario. This is an 8-month term position, preferred from May 2026 to December 2026, with a pay range of $24-35/hr.

Requirements

Desire to succeed and to do things right the first time.
Demonstrated technical expertise in active optical components.
Team guidance skills.
Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
Good understanding of test plans, test execution, and bug reporting.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Basic understanding of hardware concepts.
College student in Photonics, Computer/Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

Experience in software development, instrumentation and automation is an asset.

Responsibilities

Applying expertise in optics to improve test & measurement techniques.
Applying test measurement techniques to characterize critical optical parameters.
Implementing automated test code and scripts that improve test coverage and the quality of results.
Applying best practices and contributing to the ongoing improvement of team processes and test execution.
Analyzing and characterizing optical, hardware and software failures and reporting them to relevant designers using internal processes and tools.
