About The Position

As an Optics Tester 2 at Richardson Gratings, you will partner with engineering and production to measure diffraction gratings. The role reports to the Production Supervisor and involves executing detailed test plans, performing manual and automated testing, analyzing measurement results, troubleshooting optical systems, maintaining technical documentation, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

At least 3 years of hands-on technical experience in optical testing or related engineering fields.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook, with strong data analysis and visualization skills.
Excellent critical-thinking, problem-solving, and technical-writing skills.
Strong initiative, curiosity, and creativity in tackling new challenges.
Ability to work safely with electrical, mechanical, and optical equipment.

Nice To Haves

Completion of a 2-year degree in Optics, Physics, Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience with LabView, Matlab, coding (Python or C), and Visual Basic macros.

Responsibilities

Execute detailed test plans to validate software, hardware, and integrated optical systems.
Perform manual and automated testing using industry tools and custom-built solutions.
Measure diffraction gratings and analyze results using Excel, macros, and data visualization tools.
Troubleshoot issues, align optical systems, and identify root causes.
Create and maintain technical documentation, test procedures, and reports.
Partner with engineering teams to understand design requirements and develop solutions.
Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance testing accuracy and productivity.
