About The Position

Founded over 80 years ago, the Wheaton Eye Clinic is a nationally recognized multi-subspecialty ophthalmology practice that spans the western suburbs of Chicago and is the largest independent ophthalmology clinic in the Midwest. The clinic prides itself on serving the community as a caring eye care provider and a reputable employer. Their offices are located in Wheaton, Naperville, Hinsdale, Saint Charles, Bartlett, and Plainfield, and they operate an ophthalmology-specific ambulatory surgery center at the main office in Wheaton. The clinic currently has 34 ophthalmologists and 6 optometrists across every ophthalmic subspecialty, who are highly respected and maintain superb relationships with referring colleagues and health systems. Patients travel to Wheaton Eye Clinic from throughout Northern Illinois, as well as from across the United States, due to its unwavering reputation for exceptional patient care. More than 170,000 patient visits occur each year. The mission at Wheaton Eye Clinic is to provide comprehensive eye care services of the highest quality and value, striving to surpass each patient’s expectations in the delivery of competent, timely, and compassionate eye care. This is a part-time role with hours every Wednesday and Friday from 8am-5pm and every Saturday from 8am-12pm.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Customer Service oriented
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Works well independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Receptionist experience at least one year
  • Medical Office or Retail Optical experience

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Epic EMR

Responsibilities

  • Answer and direct all incoming calls for the Optical Department
  • Cashier for Optical transactions
  • Medicare billing and coding for electronic submission of optical claims
  • Insurance billing and coding for glasses
  • Receive optical product for the office and manage inventory accuracy
  • Label product for retail presentation
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of entire frame inventory
  • Receive purchase orders, reconcile invoices to achieve accurate stock status
  • Assist customers with frame styling, recommending fashionable options for prescription eyewear
  • Design, organize and maintain retail eyewear displays
