The Optical Process Engineer plays a critical role in improving manufacturing processes, driving cost efficiencies, and supporting the introduction of new optical components into the product portfolio. This role partners cross-functionally to enhance process capability, quality, and scalability across the site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment; experience with optical components is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive measurable process and quality improvements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with MRP/ERP systems is a plus.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment, particularly during periods of growth and change.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with injection molding is a plus.
  • Experience with automation and/or programming is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a hands-on individual contributor driving technical, quality, and process improvements across manufacturing operations.
  • Lead structured problem-solving and root cause analysis to resolve production and quality issues in a job shop environment.
  • Evaluate customer requirements and propose cost-effective, manufacturable optical solutions.
  • Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Collect and analyze data to generate actionable insights and provide timely reporting to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, and cost performance.
  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to enhance manufacturability, reduce waste, and improve process capability.
  • Design and develop optical manufacturing tooling and fixtures.
  • Support supplier qualification efforts, including validation of new components and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to implement corrective and preventive actions both internally and with external suppliers.
