About The Position

Amazon Infrastructure Services (AIS) is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. This involves supporting all AWS data centers and the associated servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. The team tackles complex challenges with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and seeks talented individuals to join them. You will be part of a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers, collaborating across AWS to maintain high standards of safety and security while delivering scalable capacity at the lowest cost. Amazon Web Services is seeking motivated Network Engineers to design, deploy, operate, and automate one of the world's largest and most complex networks. With rapid expansion, the focus is on designing, deploying, and automating network delivery while ensuring maximum reliability for customers. This includes scaling existing networks, designing new topologies, deploying them, and automating processes wherever possible.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of major internet routing protocols experience
  • 4+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
  • 4+ years’ experience with the rollout and operations of large DWDM networks and Optical network technologies
  • 3+ years’ experience with optical planning and modelling tools

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience
  • Thorough understanding of deploying and operating high capacity DWDM and Optical network systems
  • Strong automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl experience

Responsibilities

  • Build, Operate and rollout our global DWDM networks
  • Drive scaling current DWDM designs to meet the demand of our customers
  • Create processes that help operate and build our DWDM network
  • Work closely with other Networking departments on new designs
  • Ensure that the DWDM network adheres to the defined network standards
  • Review and implement changes on the DWDM network
  • Drive operational excellence projects to drive improvements in our DWDM network quality and reliability
  • Troubleshoot complex problems and develop innovative solutions day to day on our network.
