The Optical Metrology Engineer is part of the Metrology team, which acquires in-process and final optical figure and microroughness measurements on precision optics and optical systems. The role applies scientific and mathematical principles to collect and analyze data across processes and products, with hands-on work on optical systems alongside technicians and engineers. Depending on experience, the engineer supports or leads measurements of optics according to manufacturing documentation, process documentation, and technical requirements. The role also involves measuring components, aligning system integration of subassemblies, supporting production processes, and improving data interpretation for internal customers. The engineer works with opticians, technologists, and engineers to identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, throughput, and first-pass yield, while following safe-handling, standard-work, and Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements.
