About The Position

An Optical/Laser Cleaning Technician will work under moderate supervision to clean and prepare various optical products. The successful candidate performs technical functions that include polishing, fixture exchanges, and cleaning as referred to in documentation and work instructions. The technician will also be able to perform other cleaning and preparation tasks with various materials with or without instruction. These tasks will be performed in an ISO-5 Cleanroom environment.

Requirements

  • Has working knowledge of hand tools, microscopes, vacuum systems, assembly equipment, electronic equipment, and processing equipment. (Degreasers, ultrasonics, plasma cleaners, etc.)
  • Capable of working independently as well as within a cross-functional team of both engineers and technicians on both production and R&D.
  • Detail-oriented and demonstrated background working with delicate parts, especially glass and wafers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Experience working with Standard Operating Procedures/work orders required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-5 years of experience with optical/laser precision parts assembly methods.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs. and up to 5 lbs. for extended periods of time.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Knowledge of parts inspection high magnification microscopes.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with one of the following preferred: lasers, mirrors/lenses/prisms, optical metrology, optical assembly, optical alignment, inertial navigation systems.
  • Previous experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Previous experience working in ISO9001/AS9100 certified manufacturing facilities preferred.
  • Previous experience working in cleanrooms (ISO Class 4 through Class 7) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets operation sheets, drawings, diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and written instructions.
  • Inspects in-process assemblies as part of methods of operations consistently under a microscope.
  • Cleans hardware of various materials with a multitude of solvents.
  • Works under microscopes for long periods of time to visually clean, test, and calibrate various optical products and components.
  • Maintains logbooks, tolerance sheets, work orders, and other required documentation.
  • Actively communicates with engineers, managers, and other technicians on process status, issues, and suggestions.
  • Performs other tasks directed by management to satisfy company objectives.
