About The Position

Boscov’s is seeking a non-licensed Optical Associate to join its Optical team. In this fast-paced, dynamic retail environment, the associate advises and assists adult and child customers with lenses and spectacle frames, helping deliver a welcoming, professional experience. The role supports optical order accuracy and fulfillment, sales transactions, customer service, compliance, and daily department operations.

Requirements

At least 1 year of optical experience.
At least 1 year of experience working in a retail store.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong customer service skills.
Ability to prioritize.
Ability to work as a team member.
Strong sense of fashion and trends.
Ability to move about the department throughout the shift.

Nice To Haves

Prior sales experience.

Responsibilities

Verify prescription orders by comparing system entries with the prescribing doctor’s original prescription, and maintain organized order files according to store procedures.
Assist customers in person and by phone, explain products and services, and provide exceptional, professional customer service.
Help customers select frames appropriate for their prescription requirements.
Verify prescriptions using a lensometer, update order status during fulfillment, notify customers when orders are ready, and process sales and payments.
Comply with company policies, confidentiality standards, and HIPAA regulations to safeguard customer information.
Assist the Optical Manager with opening and closing procedures, cash reconciliation, and accurate point-of-sale transactions.
Build positive working relationships with store leadership and associates to support a collaborative, customer-focused environment.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional optical department.
