About The Position

Myakka River State Park is looking for a self-motivated park service professional to fill an OPS toll collector position, providing visitor services and administration. The applicant must possess good visitor service and administrative skills. This position is for Saturday, Sunday and some holiday assignments up to 20 hours per week. The candidate must be able to work independently. This is moderately independent work providing Visitor Services, and  Administration in Myakka River State Park. VISITOR SERVICES - Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meets visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions in an accurate and professional manner.  Attempts to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations ADMINISTRATION -.Prepares forms and reports on a wide range of subjects.  Answers telephone, operates park radio, computer, and various office equipment. Conducts purchasing and fiscal activities in compliance with established procedures. Collects fees, performs cash register/point of sale transactions and reconciles receipts.

Requirements

  • KNOWLEDGE OF: Florida’s natural and cultural resources
  • KNOWLEDGE OF: basic arithmetic
  • KNOWLEDGE OF: good public relations
  • SKILL IN: communicating effectively verbally and in writing
  • SKILL IN: operating a cash register/point of sale system and reconciling receipts
  • SKILL IN: accurately preparing reports
  • SKILL IN: interacting with all internal and external customers and the general public in a professional, tactful and courteous manner
  • SKILL IN: utilize a computer including, but not limited to software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite
  • ABILITY TO: follow verbal and written instructions/directions
  • ABILITY TO: work independently with minimal supervision
  • ABILITY TO: establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • ABILITY TO: speak in public
  • ABILITY TO: understand and apply rules, directives, policies, laws and regulations
  • ABILITY TO: work Saturday, Sunday and holidays as required, up to 20 hour per week
  • ABILITY TO: maintain a valid driver's license
  • ABILITY TO: successfully complete background and fingerprint check
  • ABILITY TO: properly wear uniform
  • ABILITY TO: comply with male and female hair grooming standards and body art and piercing restrictions
  • Valid Driver’s license
