About The Position

This position assists in the planning, conduction, and administration of a generalized nutrition program within a designated health clinic/site, working 100% within the Women, Infants, & Children’s Program (WIC). The role involves performing nutrition risk assessments, providing nutrition counseling and education to a diverse client base including infants, children up to 5 years of age, pregnant women, postpartum women, and breastfeeding women. The nutritionist will assist clients with goal setting, document assessments, education, and referrals in FL-WiSE, and ensure proper documentation as required by policy and quality improvement audits. Responsibilities also include coordinating and performing reassessments and education for high-risk clients, assigning appropriate food packages, and providing group education as needed. The position involves certifying clients for the WIC Program, reviewing medical documentation, referring clients to community resources, and obtaining anthropometric and hematological data for WIC certifications.

  • Current License in the State of Florida as a Dietitian/Nutritionist
  • Willingness to provide coverage at all Nassau WIC sites
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to bend, squat, or stand for prolonged time, and lift items up to 35 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Certifies clients for participation in the WIC Program in accordance with the policies of the state WIC Program and regulations as stated in DHM 150-24.
  • Reviews medical documentation and foods forms and WIC referral forms.
  • Refers clients to community resources as needed.
  • Obtains anthropometric and hematological data for WIC certifications, recertifications, and rechecks as needed.
