About The Position

This position is centered on day-to-day park operations focusing on facility maintenance and customer service but has some rare opportunities to be exposed to other facets of the park including: visitor education, resource management, and other projects. This position will be needed for 16 hours a week which includes weekend shift coverage and does not have health insurance. The primary function of this position is to provide excellent customer service as the first point of contact on entering historic Fort Clinch. This position will also be used throughout the park to assist in day-to-day operations as needed.

  • Performing cleaning and grounds keeping duties
  • Operating trucks, tractors, operating mowers, and utility vehicles standard power and manual tools
  • Operate various types of lawn maintenance equipment including chainsaws, blowers, standard power and manual tools
  • Communicate verbally and in writing
  • Perform physical labor and janitorial duties
  • Deal with people and maintain good public relations
  • Follow verbal and written instructions
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Provide answers to visitor inquiries in a tactful, efficient and courteous manner
  • Understand and apply rules, directives, policies, laws, and regulations
  • Operate lawn mowers, weed eaters, backpack blowers, and other grounds maintenance equipment as assigned
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Work rotating shifts including nights, holidays and weekends

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for greeting visitors to the Fort and providing information pertaining to the history and activities that occurred during the Civil War in costumed in first-person interpretation dress.
  • Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education; meets visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions.
  • Attempts to resolve visitor complaints while maintaining good public relations.
  • Maintains cleanliness of grounds and buildings.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
