About The Position

This position will provide WIC nutritional services in various sites throughout Volusia County and other future sites as needed. The role involves providing nutrition assessment, certification, and counseling of WIC applicants as a Competent Professional Authority (CPA). The individual will certify WIC eligible participants using VENA (Value Enhanced Nutritional Assessment) counseling techniques, complete all initial and ongoing training required for a CPA, and assess participants for high-risk status, completing high-risk care plans per current protocol. The role also includes providing low and high-risk contacts per protocol, documenting interactive counseling sessions per required format, promoting breastfeeding for pregnant and postpartum women, and providing/documenting healthcare referrals for community resources as needed by the participant.

Requirements

  • Ability to plan, organize, and evaluate a nutrition program or project.
  • Knowledge of the science and current practice of nutrition and dietetics.
  • Ability to determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Must be willing to accept this salary if offered the position
  • Must be willing to physically come in the office to perform the duties & responsibilities of the positions
  • Must have current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship
  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in nutrition science, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition
  • Must be willing to travel to outlaying sites using your own vehicle if needed (mileage will be provided in accordance with agency policy) and/or state vehicle
  • Ability to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.

  • WIC Experience preferred

Responsibilities
