Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must have proof of faith-based training.
  • Must possess a current written approbation or endorsement by the appropriate official of the ecclesiastical body.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to conduct a variety of religious services and activities.
  • Ability to counsel.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to follow instructions, rules, and procedures.
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate work activities.
  • Ability to provide counseling or guidance to others.
  • Ability to work with youth in secure detention.
  • Knowledge of computer software.
  • Knowledge of counseling and interviewing techniques.
  • Knowledge of theological theories, philosophies, and systems.
  • Knowledge of theology, religion, or one of the social or behavioral sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, implement and coordinate supervision for Chaplaincy activities.
  • Provide pastoral care for youth and staff.
  • Conduct worship services and religious education classes for youth.
  • Maintain records and submit reports to supervisor.
  • Assist in planning and administering local activities.
  • Prepares and conducts religious services for youth or other individuals.
  • Interviews and counsels' youth on a variety of subject matters.
  • Coordinate activities of youth, or other individuals.
  • Perform related work as required.
