About The Position

This position is within the Department of Health in Pinellas County, located in the Pulmonary Health Clinic in St. Petersburg. The role involves performing high-quality 2 View chest X-ray imaging for TB screening using both conventional and digital radiography equipment. The incumbent will work with patients who may have active or latent Tuberculosis and must adhere strictly to infection control and radiation safety protocols. This is an OPS (Other Personal Services) position, classified as temporary.

Requirements

• Certified radiologic technologist holding a certificate under Florida law; § 468.302
• OR Certified radiologic assistant holding a certificate under Florida law; § 468.302
• Knowledge of radiography equipment, safety, procedures and infectious disease control measures.
• Knowledge of conventional and digital radiography systems
• Skilled in positioning patients correctly, strictly adhering to airborne precaution guidelines and delivering diagnostic images
• Skilled in communicating with patients, especially those with airborne illnesses, mobility or communication challenges
• Skilled in managing quality control programs and ensuring compliance with national radiology and public health standards
• Ability to consistently wear protective equipment included N95 respirators throughout duty hours
• Ability to operate radiation-generating equipment in a clinical setting
• Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care during imaging procedures
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary public health clinical team
• Ability to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality 2 View chest X-ray imaging for TB screening using both conventional and digital radiography equipment, following standardized clinical protocols, infection control guidelines and radiation safety standards.
• Position patients correctly, adjust exposure factors, and ensure image clarity and diagnostic accuracy.
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care during imaging procedures ensuring comfort, minimizing movement, while wearing the N95 mask and strictly adhering to infection control protocols, and maintain strict adherence to radiation safety protocols.
• Communicate effectively with patients, especially with those who have mobility or communication challenges, to ensure cooperation and reduce anxiety, ensuring safety protocols and masking requirements are met.
• Perform timely routine maintenance and sanitization of X-ray equipment, including film processors (if applicable), according to TB clinic infection control standards and troubleshooting minor technical issues.
• Participate in quality control programs, ensuring compliance with national radiology standards, airborne pathogens control measures and TB program regulations.
• Work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including radiologists, TB clinic nurses, public health staff and other technicians, to support efficient patient flow and accurate reporting.
