The incumbent reports directly to the Arbovirus Serologic Testing and Environmental Surveillance Supervisor and has the primary responsibility of performing non-clinical hemagglutination inhibition testing. Additional clinical testing may be required during outbreaks. The role involves preparing, processing, and performing highly complex assays on submitted clinical and animal specimens. It also includes preparing stock reagents, moderately and highly complex reagents, and media for use in virology procedures. The position requires performing quality assurance procedures and quality control testing, accessioning submitted specimens (including assigning laboratory numbers and monitoring specimen quality), and analyzing and reporting test results. Related duties as required are also part of the responsibilities.
