Ophthalmology Veterinary Technician
About The Position

As we continue to grow, our Ophthalmology Department is expanding. We are looking for a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) who thrives in a fast-paced, specialty environment and has a passion for precision, patient advocacy, and advanced ophthalmic care. This is not a routine veterinary nursing position. Ophthalmology combines advanced diagnostics, microsurgical procedures, and specialized patient care. You'll work alongside board-certified veterinary ophthalmologists and anesthesiologists, assisting with everything from routine eye examinations to complex ocular surgeries that help restore comfort and vision.
Requirements
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT required)
- Strong anesthesia and patient monitoring skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to precision
- Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced specialty setting
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Willingness to learn advanced ophthalmic procedures and techniques
Nice To Haves
- Experience in specialty or emergency medicine is preferred but not required for the right candidate with a strong foundation and eagerness to learn.
Responsibilities
- Assist with comprehensive ophthalmic examinations and diagnostic testing
- Prepare patients for ophthalmic procedures and surgeries
- Induce, maintain, and monitor anesthesia for ophthalmic surgical procedures
- Assist with microsurgical procedures using specialized ophthalmic equipment
- Perform ophthalmic diagnostics, including tonometry, Schirmer tear tests, fluorescein staining, and ocular imaging
- Provide exceptional nursing care before, during, and after procedures
- Educate clients on medications, postoperative care, and long-term management of eye conditions
- Maintain accurate and thorough medical records
- Collaborate closely with doctors and team members to ensure outstanding patient care
