About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Ophthalmology Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will assist providers with patient care, ophthalmic testing, and clinical procedures while maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • Proof of MMR and Varicella vaccinations or titers.
  • Proof of TB/PPD or Chest X-ray within the past 12 months.
  • Current Annual Health Clearance.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and multitasking abilities.
  • Knowledge of EHR systems, ophthalmic terminology, and basic clinical procedures.
  • Must have reliable source of transportation.
  • All applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Ophthalmic Technician certification preferred.
  • Minimum 6 months of experience in ophthalmology or a clinical healthcare setting preferred.
  • Must have flexible schedule to accommodate coverage needs.
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients and exam rooms for ophthalmic examinations and procedures.
  • Obtain patient medical and ocular history, medications, visual acuity, intraocular pressure, color vision, and pupillary response.
  • Assist providers with examinations and procedures, including administration of eye drops and preparation of medications as directed.
  • Perform ophthalmic diagnostic testing, including visual fields, OCT, IOL calculations, Optos imaging, topography, and ocular ultrasound.
  • Prepare and maintain ophthalmic instruments and equipment, including monitoring for proper function and calibration.
  • Accurately document patient information, test results, imaging orders, and clinical notes in the EHR.
  • Assist with patient education regarding basic health habits, preventive care, and treatment instructions.
  • Maintain clean and organized exam rooms while following infection control and safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
  • Support patient flow, scheduling, and other clinical duties as needed.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
