About The Position

Accountable for greeting patients either in person or over the telephone. Performs the initial evaluation by obtaining medical history, patient concerns, performs examination tests and prepares equipment for physician as needed. Assists with surgical procedures, administers topical medications or diagnostic drugs prescribed by the physician.

Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties.
Ability to communicate effectively with others.
Ability to hear, understand and distinguish speech and other sounds.
High School or GED Equivalent

Responsibilities

Ensures examination rooms are properly stocked, cleaned and that equipment is ready and in working order for daily use.
Rooms and prepares patient, obtaining information: ophthalmic, medical, family and social history and patient concerns.
Performs opening examination tests and prepares equipment for physician following established policies, procedures and guidelines.
Is proficient in the electronic health record for all aspects of the ophalmic evaluation.
Assists physician with office surgical and non-surgical procedures and arranging required instruments for procedures prior to scheduled appointment.
Assists with answering phones, making appointments, filing, prior authorizations, etc.
Coordinates and manages clinic inventory.
Contacts pharmacy when appropriate for refills following established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
