The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for patient care, including rooming patients, collecting assessment data, administering medications, and performing patient care procedures. They will assist physicians during treatments, testing, and examinations, and perform various diagnostic procedures such as retinoscopy, refractometry, A/B scans, photography, fluorescein angiography, corneal/disc topography, assist in surgery, low vision evaluations, visual fields, and applanations. The role also involves maintaining patient flow, providing patient and family education, documenting patient care, responding to phone calls, performing telephone triaging, following up on patient care, and reviewing charts. Participation in Quality Assurance and Improvement is expected, and the role may require working alternate shifts and weekends. Other duties as assigned.
