About The Position

MN Eye Consultants is currently hiring for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Ophthalmic Technician I for our Minnetonka (Crosstown) clinic. Position Summary This position is responsible for performing measurements and tests that provide the physician with the information needed to arrive at a diagnosis and to prescribe treatment. This position primarily works with Doctors of Optometry but may see patients for any MEC provider within their skill-set. Starting pay is $20.00-23.00/hour. Location/Schedule This position will work Monday-Friday, between 7:30am-5:00pm. May require an occasional 1/2 day on Saturday. The home base of this position is the Minnetonka (Crosstown) clinic, but may be scheduled to work shifts at the other MEC locations as needed (Blaine, Woodbury and Bloomington). Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of direct patient care experience within an eye clinic or Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant or LPN experience

Nice To Haves

  • Optometry or Ophthalmology experience preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and acknowledge all patients and guests according to company standards, anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank others with genuine appreciation.
  • Obtain complete patient histories including chief complaint, past ocular/medical history, family medical/ocular history and history of allergies and medications.
  • Perform and document subjective and objective ophthalmic testing efficiently to provide basic information necessary for ophthalmic examinations. This includes but is not limited to: history, visual acuities, lensometry (manual and auto), refractometry, keratometry (manual and automated), visual fields, tonometry, assisting with office procedures
  • Educate patients regarding diagnostic testing and their clinic visit
  • Open and close exam rooms, ensure all equipment is clean and ready for the doctor; stock all necessary supplies
