Unifeye Vision Partners is currently hiring for a Ophthalmic Technician, Oceanside, CA. The Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for attending to patients in a timely and professional manner while providing a first-class customer service experience with all patients. The Ophthalmic Technician performs measurements and tests that provide the physician with the information needed to arrive at a diagnosis and to prescribe treatment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum one year of experience in Ophthalmology Technician preferred.
  • Knowledge of ophthalmology terms, conditions and clinical flow preferred.
  • Professional verbal communication skills, demonstrating ability to educate patients in a friendly and positive manner.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Typing, Computer and Data entry

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) preferred.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all patients and guests with highest level of customer service and care and in accordance with company standards.
  • Anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and thank others with genuine appreciation.
  • Treat each patient with respect by greeting them by name, introducing yourself, and ensuring that the patient understands tests, procedures, and the process during the exam.
  • Complete all necessary workups including obtaining medical and surgical history, and the completion of all diagnostic testing.
  • Perform ophthalmologic tests including visual acuity, applanation tonometry, pachymetry, visual fields, corneal topography, OCTs, lensometry, and other tests as directed within the prescribed timeline.
  • Assist doctors with sending new and refill prescriptions electronically to pharmacies.
  • Submit prior authorizations for prescriptions as needed.
  • Assist with retina injections set up and procedure.
  • Assist with patient pre- and post-op counseling, procedure set up, and performing in office procedures.
  • Obtain consents when needed.
  • Calibrate diagnostic equipment per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Instrument sterilization as needed.
  • Facilitates timely patient flow throughout the patient visit.
  • Advises patients of possible wait time.
