About The Position

Northwest Eye, a leading specialty eye care provider with five locations in the Twin Cities metro area, is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician for its Maple Grove clinic. This dynamic role involves performing diagnostic testing and work-ups under the delegation of a physician to aid in patient diagnosis. The position requires close interaction with children and involves 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday between 7 am and 5 pm. While based in Maple Grove, the role may require travel to other Northwest Eye Clinic locations. The starting pay for this position is $21.00 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Optometry or ophthalmology experience preferred
JCAHPO certification preferred
Contact lens experience preferred

Responsibilities

Perform and document subjective and objective ophthalmic testing efficiently to provide basic information necessary for ophthalmic examinations.
Conduct history taking, visual acuities, lensometry (manual and auto), refractometry, keratometry (manual and automated), visual fields, and tonometry.
Assist with office procedures.
Perform contact lens insertions and removals (I&R's).
Educate patients regarding diagnostic testing and their clinic visit.
Open and close exam rooms, ensuring all equipment is clean and ready for the doctor.
Stock all necessary supplies.
Inform patients of the purpose of all tests performed and how they will be affected during the tests.
All other duties as assigned.
