This role involves greeting patients, reviewing charts, obtaining patient history, and performing various ophthalmic tests prior to the physician's examination. Responsibilities include administering drops, instructing patients on medications and treatments, following up with pharmacies, and escorting patients. The technician will also be responsible for cleaning and sterilizing equipment, maintaining and stocking exam rooms, and potentially assisting at the front desk, functioning as a Medical Scribe, or performing other assigned duties. The position requires knowledge of ophthalmic medical terminology, basic ocular anatomy and physiology, and common visual pathologies. The ideal candidate will be organized, efficient, able to manage a busy workload, work well in a team, and be self-directed with excellent attention to detail. Knowledge of patient testing equipment operations and maintenance, and flexibility in adapting to new assignments are also important.
