About The Position

Northwest Eyes, a nationally recognized ophthalmic medical and surgical practice with vast clinical experience, is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join their team. Requirements

Basic knowledge of medical coding terminology and conventions.
Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office products, and G-suite environments.
Willingness to help in all areas, flexibility, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, ability to convey ideas and information verbally and in writing.
Professional appearance, strong interpersonal skills, and patient confidentiality.
Strong organization with attention to detail.
High school diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year experience as an ophthalmic assistant.
Maintains appropriate education, certification, licensure, and training.

Experienced COA or COT preferred.

Responsibilities

Summarize and document ophthalmic examinations, including charting, chief complaint, assessment, and treatment recommendations.
Maintain patient flow and communicate appointment status.
Assist Ophthalmologists by performing ophthalmic clinical functions, such as patient workups and special testing.
Administer eye medications and instruct patients on eye care and treatment.
Apply dressings to the eye.
Assist with in-office lasers and procedures.
Operate ophthalmic equipment such as Auto Refractor, Retinoscopes, Phoropters, Slit Lamp, Pentacam/Topography, Wavescan, IOL master/instar, Projectors, Zeiss OCT, and Heidelberg OCT.
Perform pupil evaluation, Pachymetry, Humphrey Visual Field Testing, Tonometry, Color Vision Extraocular Muscle Function Testing & Hirschberg Testing, Van Herick measurements, Worth 4-Dot test, and Stereopsis testing.
Triage phone calls from patients and outside contacts.
Sterilize and maintain ophthalmic instruments or equipment.
Assist patients in inserting or removing contact lenses.
