About The Position

This role involves assisting a physician with patient examinations and treatments. The Ophthalmic Technician will be responsible for taking patient histories, performing routine diagnostic procedures, and handling some clerical duties. The position requires travel to Cumming, Gainesville, and Sandy Springs weekly.

Requirements

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an ophthalmic practice.
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing ophthalmic procedures and diagnostic testing.
Experience in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Reliability and dependability.
Strong organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in Outlook and Microsoft Office.
Flexibility (may require some early mornings and evenings)

Nice To Haves

Experience in cornea and cataract clinics preferred.

Responsibilities

Facilitate patient care
Perform preliminary work-up: history, chief complaint, visual acuity, eye pressure, pupil reactions, scope of vision, color vision and muscle movement.
Perform manual refractions.
Perform Tonometry (Applanation, Tonopen).
Conduct diagnostic testing: Biometry, Topography, OCT, Visual Fields, Fundus Photos.
Take dictation and document exam findings while physician is examining patient.
Administer drops under physician supervision.
Write out necessary prescriptions.
Take and explain tests, procedures, treatments, and diagnoses to patients.
Maintain and stock all exam rooms.
Clean and maintain all instruments.
Assist physician in minor office surgery.
Return and answer patient phone calls as needed.
