About The Position

Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston (OCB) is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician II to join their team. This role is crucial in providing comprehensive ophthalmic care under the direct supervision of a department supervisor. The technician will assist physicians by gathering patient data, performing various diagnostic tests, and maintaining a conducive clinical environment. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT), Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC), Certified Retinal Angiographer (CRA), or Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT-C) required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a COA, COT, COMT, OSC, CRA or OCT-C.
  • Proficiency in all aspects of ophthalmic patient care, including advanced procedures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in refractometry, applanation tonometry, and other ophthalmic tests.
  • Ability to troubleshoot most eye issues.
  • Ability to work with various electronic health record systems.
  • Some experience with diagnostic testing.
  • In-depth knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
  • Strong technical skills in operating ophthalmic equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex concepts, with strong math and science skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient computer and data entry skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Perform lensometry.
  • Perform auto refractometry.
  • Perform refractometry.
  • Perform pupil assessment.
  • Perform extraocular motility testing.
  • Perform gross external examination.
  • Perform applanation tonometry.
  • Perform tonopen procedures.
  • Perform eye drop instillation.
  • Perform diagnostic testing.
  • Participate in patient care within a clinical setting.
  • Maintain patient medical records.
  • Ensure efficient and organized workflow.
