The Ophthalmic Technician I provides direct patient care by assisting clinicians with diagnostic and treatment-oriented procedures. This role involves performing job-specific standards such as patient intake, measurement of strabismus, extraocular rotation exam, sensory testing, pupil assessment, visual acuity, tonometry, lensometry, color vision testing, and visual field testing. Additionally, the technician provides clinical support by setting up and maintaining examining rooms, equipment, and supplies, escorting patients to examining rooms, and completing school and other miscellaneous forms. The primary goal is to independently provide clinician and clinic support for the Ophthalmology department.
