About The Position

Harborview Eye Institute has an outstanding opportunity for a Full-time Days Ophthalmic Technician 2. Located two blocks from the main medical center in Harborview's Ninth & Jefferson Building on First Hill in Seattle, the UW Medicine Eye Institute offers cutting-edge medical and surgical eye care for common to complex conditions and disorders. Our staff provides comprehensive treatment for people with glaucoma, cataracts, diseases of the retina, cornea, orbit and nerves and age-related eye diseases. We also perform refractive procedures such as LASIK and oculofacial plastic surgery procedures. Eyes on James is our full-service optical shop in the Ninth & Jefferson building and offers eye exams, specialty glasses and contact lenses.

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved ophthalmic technician program and one year of experience: Certified Ophthalmic Assist
  • Equivalent education/experience
  • Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

  • Assist/and or perform complex clinical diagnostic eye examinations and procedures as delegated by the optometry, ophthalmology and acute eye care team
  • Complete all ophthalmic imaging tests as ordered by the physicians such Amler tests; Stero- tests, Applanation tonometry, Togopen Visual Field Goldman
  • Perform complex clinical diagnostic eye imaging and procedures within the cope of certification; patient intake activities, routine technical procedures, administer topical medications, assist with procedures
  • Demonstrate proactive, professional communication across and within the department to facilitate smooth workflow, and to ensure department is positively represented throughout the organization
