About The Position

EyeCare Partners is the nation’s leading provider of clinically integrated eye care, with a national network of over 300 ophthalmologists and 700 optometrists providing care in 18 states and 80 markets. The primary goal of an Ophthalmic Scribe is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the Physician they are working for, allowing the Doctor to focus on patient care.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of medical terminology and accepted abbreviations.
  • Efficient in using EMR and ability to accurately record information.
  • Good typing, spelling, grammar and oral communication skills.
  • Communication skills and the ability to coordinate and cooperate with multiple members of the health care team.
  • Organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow.
  • Must comply with HIPAA confidentiality standards when communicating patient information.
  • Provides excellent patient care and is energetic and empathetic with patients.
  • Consistently displays positive rapport with fellow employees.
  • Cooperates with supervisory staff and Physicians.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in job assignment.
  • Good judgment, organization ability, attention to detail, and ability to be self-motivated.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient keyboarding skills.
  • Use of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and image management system.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) certification

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the Physician.
  • Responsible for the operation of the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) of patients.
  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of examination and procedure codes (ICD-9 codes) when inputting into the EMR system.
  • Ensure that accurate procedure coding/charges for all procedures/drugs for all patients and correct diagnosis codes are used.
  • Anticipate Physician needs to facilitate the flow of the clinic.
  • Open and close exam rooms as needed.
  • Help with testing and keep rooms filled to maintain flow of the clinic.
  • Must be willing to travel between offices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
