About The Position

The Ophthalmic Imager 1 (OI1) is competent in the theory, principles, and practice of eye care. This role documents in the EMR system and performs ocular diagnostic testing using specialized instrumentation in compliance with department standards. The Ophthalmic Imager 1 performs supervised ocular diagnostic testing using specialty-specific imaging instruments, documents procedures, and uploads images into the electronic medical record.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA)
OCT-C (Certified Optical Coherence Tomography) or COA (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant)
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form
Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines

Responsibilities

Performs diagnostic testing including but not limited to: Color fundus photography, Fluorescein angiography, ICG (Indocyanine Green) angiography, Optical coherence tomography, Automated & manual perimetry, Slit lamp photography, External photography, Ocular motility photography.
Provides patient-centric care.
Adheres to University of Miami policies, standards, and values.
Ensures compliance with regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality.
Follows best practices of patient safety, hand hygiene, and infection control.
Completes the University of Miami mandatory in-services and online training.
Attends educational courses for ophthalmic personnel when assigned.
Demonstrates high quality of work through accuracy, timeliness, professionalism, and thoroughness.
Meets daily productivity goals.
Performs organization duties as designated.
Ensures all equipment is calibrated, and instrumentation is in proper working order.
Organizes and stocks rooms for daily clinical activities.
Travels to satellite eye centers when necessary.
Works evenings and weekends as needed.
