About The Position

Albemarle Eye Center, part of US Eye, provides a wide range of ophthalmic services including LASIK, cataract removal, occuloplastics, glaucoma treatment, routine eye exams, and contact lens fittings. This role offers hands-on training for individuals aspiring to a career in ophthalmology, working alongside renowned surgeons and optometrists to improve patient vision. The position is ideal for those passionate about helping others in a professional, team-oriented environment. Trainees will learn complex diagnostic testing and exams, assisting doctors in patient treatment and potentially earning advanced, internationally recognized certification.

Requirements

Experience within a professional environment with a strong customer service focus
High School Diploma or GED required
Willing to train the right person

Nice To Haves

Previous experience within the medical field
Experience in optometry or ophthalmology a plus

Responsibilities

Works with ophthalmologists and optometrists to provide patient care by performing many different eye-related clinical functions.
Helps care for patients by taking histories, performing various procedures and tests, and preparing patients to see the doctor.
Provides ophthalmologists and optometrists with important information to help diagnose and treat patients.
Assists and provides patients with excellent customer service and any necessary information regarding treatment.
Conducts tonometry tests to measure intraocular pressure.
Measures visual acuity.
Takes and documents patients' medical histories.
Administers topical ophthalmic or oral medications.
Conducts visual field tests to measure field of vision.
Instructs patients in the care and use of contact lenses.
