Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED General
• BLS - Basic Life Support or ARC-BLS - Amer Red Cross Basic Life Support or BLS-I - Basic Life Support - Instructor
• Minimum 2 years experience in medical field.

Nice To Haves

• CMA, CNA, COA preferred. Upon Hire Preferred

Responsibilities

• Aids the ophthalmologist by obtaining medical information, performing preliminary eye function exams and explaining to patients about medication and/or procedures.
• Performing visual acuity, tests such as visual fields, keratometry, ocular mobility, refraction, imaging, administering eye drops, assisting with corrective lenses and other supplemental testing.
• Under the supervision of the ophthalmologist administer medications, processing microbiological specimens, measurement of intraocular pressure, and performing amblyopia treatment.
• Assesses, performs specialized procedures, patient education, supporting and communicating with medical staff, and recording results of routine ophthalmic examination procedures on patients.
• Assisting with ophthalmic surgery procedures.
• Performing imaging.
• Performs simple maintenance on equipment and reports malfunctions.
• Practices under the directions of higher-level personnel until certified.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
