About The Position
McFarland Clinic has an opening for an energetic Ophthalmic Assistant for its Ames Eye Care Center. The candidate is expected to be a team player, willing to learn basic ophthalmic techniques as well as the working of advanced ophthalmic equipment.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED or HiSET
- Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
- Excellent customer service skills and willing to be able to multi-task.
- Keyboard and computer experience.
Nice To Haves
- Graduate from an accredited program for Ophthalmic Assistants preferred.
- Ophthalmic experience preferred but not required/ on the job training available.
- One year of work experience in medical office setting preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepares patients for exams or treatments, takes visual acuity and performs basic screening tests.
- Takes brief history and other medical information needed.
- Administers necessary medications, orders lab and x-ray procedures.
- Performs other such duties as directed by the provider.
- Sets up and assists with minor surgery and laser surgery.
