About The Position

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a talented individual to join them as an Ophthalmology Assistant for their full-time opening. This is a great entry-level position for a candidate with a minimum of 1 year of experience in healthcare. The Stanley M. Truhlsen Eye Institute is a state-of-the-art facility designed to transform ophthalmology in Nebraska for generations to come, featuring a regional diagnostic center with the latest technology, a clinical research center, subspecialty ophthalmic care, and a children's eye care center. The role offers a positive and welcoming culture with opportunities for growth. The shift is First Shift, Monday-Friday, 8 am-4:30 pm. This is a Full Time position, Benefits Eligible (1.0 FTE). The duties involve providing administrative, technical, and quality patient care support to an ophthalmologist/optometrist in a clinical setting.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Completion of an accredited Ophthalmic Assistant course OR completion of one year of post-secondary education in an allied health field OR one year of experience in a healthcare setting required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (BLS with skills assessment or approved BLS) is required within six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in ophthalmic or optometric office preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited ophthalmic assistant course preferred.
  • Certification as an ophthalmic assistant, technician or technologist preferred.
  • Once certification is achieved, it is required to be maintained.
