As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will support the Ophthalmologist by performing various clinical and administrative tasks throughout the department. You will assist with direct patient care as directed, ensuring everyone feels comfortable and at ease throughout their appointment and exam. In this role, your ability to facilitate a welcoming environment can make a difference in the lives of Cleveland Clinic patients every day. A caregiver in this position works 7:00am to 5:00pm.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of experience providing direct patient care under the supervision of an Ophthalmologist
  • Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and PC.
  • Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
  • May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
  • Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical and technical ophthalmic duties and perform basic patient care as directed by a physician or supervisor.
  • Receive and prepare patients for examination and treatment under the direction of a supervisor or physician.
  • Perform routine screening tests and document patient information in the patient medical record.
  • Stock and maintain exam rooms with equipment and supplies.
