About The Position

Eaton’s ES GEIS CHD division is currently seeking a OpEx & Engineering Manager. This role is onsite at our Washington, PA facility. Relocation is provided within the United States. Washington, PA is the home of the Eaton Crouse-Hinds commercial outlet box facility which manufactures steel boxes, covers, and prefabricated electrical assemblies. Manufacturing 1.3 million units per week, this highly automated and fast paced environment places a high value on talented professionals that are focus on problem solving and efficiency. The expected annual salary range for this role is $129000 - $190000 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. What you’ll do: Eaton is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead manufacturing engineering efforts at the Washington, PA site, enabling operational excellence, cost competitiveness, and strategic growth objectives. This role provides technical and people leadership to the engineering team while driving cost out initiatives, executing capital projects and leading engineering initiatives that enable the manufacturing strategy. The Engineering Manager will partner closely with operations, quality, supply chain, and leadership teams, ensuring engineering projects improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and long term capability of the site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience including increasing responsibility and leadership of projects in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with lean manufacturing tools/elements (VSM, 5S, Std Work, Set-Up Reduction, etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of problem-solving methodologies used in determining root cause and formulating corrective action(s) - i.e. 8D, root cause analysis, Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis, control charts, Pareto charts, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of production environments (low volume/high mix and high volume/low mix) including safety requirements and use of lean techniques in these environments
  • Familiarity with ISO requirements including participation in audits
  • CQM or CQE
  • Proficiency with components of Eaton Lean Six Sigma, Eaton Business System, MEHS, ProLaunch, etc.
  • Proven leadership capability with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to drive results by developing and empowering teams

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Eaton Continuous Improvement Framework deployment (visual controls, process standardization, leader standard work, Gemba walks, manning strategy, daily accountability, process checks and CI for everyone).
  • Responsible for working with Plant and Divisional leadership in identifying high-priority areas for improvement from annual Plant level Value Stream Mapping rounds to ensure ELSS efforts are aligned to and fully support Profit Plan and Strategic Plan goals.
  • Responsible for driving quality management systems (ISO, TS) manufacturing compliance with agency requirements (UL, ATEX), improving the Cost of Non-Conformance and leading teams to reduce customer complaints.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a Lean operating culture, integrating Lean thinking into standard work, problem solving, and decision making to improve operational performance.
  • Drive the Industry 4.0 (I4.0) strategy, leveraging data, automation, and digital tools to enhance manufacturing performance and decision-making
  • Lead capital project execution from concept through commissioning, ensuring scope, cost, schedule, and performance targets are achieved
  • Lead operational site assessments, evaluate process and performance maturity, monitor assessment outcomes and corrective action plans, and translate findings into measurable business results
  • Coach and mentor other functions (Safety, Production, etc.) in root cause analysis and problem-solving tools/methods (Six Sigma, 8D, etc.).
  • Lead and execute cost out initiatives through engineering solutions, design optimization, equipment efficiency improvements, and process standardization.
