About The Position

Avantor is looking for an Operator to operate distillation and blending equipment and handle chemicals. This is a full-time position based out of our Phillipsburg, NJ location. Work Schedule: 3rd Shift: Monday-Friday, 11:00pm-7:00am with training on 1st shift for the first few months.

Requirements

  • High School completion or equivalent (GED).
  • 1 – 3 years of related experience in a manufacturing facility, preferably in a chemical plant or food and beverage industry.
  • Adhere to all safety precautions and PPE (personal protection equipment) requirements while completing the assigned duties in a safe manner.
  • Demonstrated mechanical ability, basic math skills, and familiarity with RCRA and cGMP regulations.
  • Experience in chemical handling, storage, and safety protocols.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem analysis skills.
  • Critical decision-making skills, creativity, multi-tasking ability.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills including the ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Good vision required for close-up and peripheral tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel), preferred.
  • Forklift Experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Performs manufacturing activities by adhering to a defined set of procedures and standard outputs to ensure consistent production quality.
  • Fits, aligns, calibrates, and adjusts parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product requirements.
  • Works safely within the parameters of and comply with company Work Instructions and policies.
  • Weighs and fills chemicals or bulk products in accordance with BPR.
  • Operates production scales, including verifications and calibrations.
  • Set up, operate, clean, and maintain the equipment.
  • Packages finished product for customers including labeling, sealing, and inspections per Work Instructions.
  • Manages hazardous materials using all appropriate or mandatory safety gear.
  • Completes documentation in a legible manner; verifies and reviews for accuracy.
  • Maintains expected quality and quantity of work.
  • Follows cGMP policies and procedures for handling, storage, packing, manufacturing, and distributing products.
  • Supports co-workers in their job responsibilities and are expected to work as a team player.
  • Monitors quality of products and raw materials.
  • Communicates with colleagues within manufacturing to exchange information, providing explanations or interpretations as necessary to maintain alignment and efficiency.
  • Ensures compliance with safety protocols, quality standards, and operational guidelines to support seamless manufacturing processes.
