Requirements

  • Completed a minimum of a Grade 12 education or equivalent including Math, Physics, Chemistry, and English.
  • Must possess a 4th Class Operating Engineer Certificate and will be required to write & pass all 3rd Class Operating Engineer exams within 24 months
  • Must be willing to work overtime – nights and weekends included – as required to ensure staffing levels are met for safe operations of the plant
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely and in compliance with site safety, health and environmental standards
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Applicants considered for hire must successfully pass our pre-employment screening process, which includes: Criminal Background check, pre-employment Drug and Alcohol testing, Drivers Abstract, Employment References, and Education verification.

Nice To Haves

  • Current possession of a 3rd Class Certificate will be considered an asset
  • A graduate from the Chemical Production & Engineering Technology (CPET) program from Lambton College or relevant experience will be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Learn all phases of assigned production area and progress to Fully Qualified Technician status according to the Proficiency Progression Program
  • Support and participate in all Environmental, Health, and Safety programs and activities.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for each task
  • Identify hazards and/or incidents and communicate findings using established procedures.
  • Comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Be an active member of the Plant Emergency Response Team
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance on projects such as TA preparation.
  • Complete computer-based learning modules and assigned training within required timelines.
  • Be responsible for proper daily housekeeping in respective work area(s)
