Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must read, write, and speak English
  • Must be able to stand and lift heavy loads for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs
  • Must be able to follow instructions
  • Must be able to interpret production orders
  • Any other job duties as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Process steel core conduit to achieve safety, quality, and efficiency requirements.
  • Load and unload raw material.
  • Transport materials.
  • Perform equipment cleanout.
  • Train to qualify in the operation and coordinate tasks to maximize production while maintaining specific procedures and quality of steel core conduit.
  • Make judgments concerning the quality of steel core conduit.
  • Interact with computer controls to operate machines/work cells.
  • Interact with HMI screens to pinpoint and eliminate operating problems.
  • Coordinate material handling and production with other operators to ensure a continuous production process.
  • Maintain material levels for all levels of operation.
  • Load and unload raw materials and finished goods.
  • Work under supervision and maintain ongoing communication with supervisor and peers.
  • Identify scrap and place into designated scrap areas.
  • Cross-train on equipment within the identified workgroup.
  • Fill positions in the event of absence or vacancy once trained in more complex jobs.
  • Rotate on a set frequency within the workgroup to maintain skill proficiency.
  • Use company's ISO Quality System documentation for daily quality activities.
  • Ensure products are not released until all quality checks have passed.
  • Immediately report quality issues to the supervisor, department manager, or quality manager.
  • Observe Southwire safety rules and maintain good housekeeping.
  • Follow all safety procedures and rules.
  • Properly wear all required PPE.
  • Review and know all Job Hazard Analyses for proper job sequence and associated hazards.
  • Review and know all Safety Data Sheets for assigned jobs.
  • Maintain all work areas to 5S standards.
  • Perform pre-operation safety inspection and hazard analysis.
  • Follow all company environmental rules/procedures and handle materials in a manner designed to minimize environmental impact.
