About The Position

The Operator position utilizes heavy equipment operation knowledge in the construction and maintenance of our nation’s Power Grid. You will assist your team in building, repairing, and maintaining overhead electrical distribution systems.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • One to two years of experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in powerline construction.
  • CDL class A license preferred; must acquire CDL beginners permit within 60 days.
  • Complete OSHA 10 hr Safety Training Program within 90 days.
  • Commitment to doing quality work while putting safety first.
  • Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens.
  • Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify.
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
  • Pre-employment medical fit-for-duty test; hold/obtain DOT medical card.
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as dictated by position.
  • All worksite safety instructions are written and spoken in English; must be fluent in English.

Responsibilities

  • Drives and operates power tools and equipment for assigned department or division.
  • Operates heavy equipment on job sites, such as, but not limited to backhoe, track hoe, front-end loader, skid steer, bulldozer, excavator; arm mower; heavy dump truck, motor grader, semi-tractor trailer, and rollers.
  • Monitors gauges and other indicators during equipment operation for non-standard conditions.
  • Drives and operates heavy equipment to precisely tear down and remove condemned structures.
  • Operates heavy equipment around dangerous gas and power lines and other public services.
  • Employee performs maintenance inspections on assigned equipment, notifies supervisor of equipment failures, and may assist with repairs. Wears safety equipment and clothing to protect self and others from bodily or property damage.
  • Follow plans and instructions regarding projects.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and abilities by participating in continuing education activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership.
