About The Position

Bechtel Construction Services is seeking an Operator Truck Services Foreman. This role is responsible for directing craft persons and ensuring the safety of crews and other project employees while operating truck or line pumps. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of safety regulations, concrete properties, and the operation of concrete pumps and related equipment. This position requires a valid CDL driver license and a minimum of 2 years of Journeyworker experience.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable of, and compliance with, all safety regulations, including inspections, related to the operations of concrete pumps including DOT, OSHA and ACPA's safety standards.
  • Must have a valid CDL driver license and current DOT physical.
  • Comply with use of company specified personal protective equipment and attend safety meetings as required.
  • Ensure vehicle is in compliance with DOT standards.
  • Ability to evaluate site conditions and setting up concrete pump trucks appropriately including, but not limited to, rigging up pump truck, setting outriggers, extending, and operating boom while pumping concrete to the work area.
  • Connect hose and pipelines to the pump to transport the concrete to the placement area.
  • Understand the basics of concrete placement and the properties of concrete, the effects of hot and cold conditions on them, and mixing the concrete according to specifications for strength and consistency.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of concrete pumps in accordance with regulations and standards.
  • Able to perform both preventative and general maintenance on concrete pumps and equipment.
  • Must be able to read and understand construction plans and blueprints.
  • Understand the basics of concrete placement and the properties of concrete.
  • Knowledge of operating the controls of a concrete mixer.
  • The ability to safely lift 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, walk, climb stairs, bend, stoop and kneel.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of positions, including at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years Journeyworker experience.

  • NCCCO Certified Concrete Pump Operator preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Directing craft persons.
  • Ensuring the safety of crews and other project employees while operating truck or line pumps.
  • Operating truck-mounted concrete boom pumps and related equipment/tools including, but not limited to, line pumps.
  • Evaluating site conditions and setting up concrete pump trucks appropriately including, but not limited to, rigging up pump truck, setting outriggers, extending, and operating boom while pumping concrete to the work area.
  • Connecting hose and pipelines to the pump to transport the concrete to the placement area.
  • Overseeing the placement of the concrete according to the project plans.
  • Loading, unloading, cleaning, and maintaining concrete pumps and attachments in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections of concrete pumps in accordance with regulations and standards.
  • Performing both preventative and general maintenance on concrete pumps and equipment.
  • Pumping concrete with precision and accuracy, observing the concrete being poured to ensure it is delivered to the desired location.
  • Making adjustments as necessary to keep the concrete pump in good operational condition.
  • Cleaning the drum at the end of each job to ensure that no concrete remains.
  • Operating the controls of a concrete mixer.
