About The Position

Kokosing is seeking an Operator Trainer to train and support the development of heavy equipment operators, ensuring continued safety, productivity, and quality in the field. This role is based in Morgantown, WV, and will support a local construction project. The trainer will be responsible for developing new operators, keeping experienced operators' skills up-to-date, and fostering good working relationships with all field personnel. Additionally, the trainer will inspect equipment for proper maintenance and safety, ensure operators understand equipment processes, and monitor equipment usage. A key part of this role involves maintaining relationships with unions and trade schools to recruit qualified candidates and communicating repair needs promptly.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma
• At least five years’ experience as an operator in construction industry
• A member in good standing of the Operating Engineers Union
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Basic computer skills
• Skilled in dirt moving equipment and techniques
• Knowledgeable in both MSHA and OSHA regulations and guidelines
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record

Responsibilities

• Provide training to new operators to develop and improve their equipment operation skills and add value to their trade.
• Work with experienced operators to keep their equipment operating skills and training up-to-date and maintain their awareness of new techniques and methods.
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with all operators, mechanics, superintendents, and management to facilitate effective communication and coordination within the field operations.
• Provide management recommendations regarding the placement of operators to ensure best fit to benefit the company and the operator.
• Inspect equipment to ensure proper maintenance and safety procedures.
• Ensure the operator understands proper equipment processes and bring any deficiencies or concerns to the attention of the proper supervisor.
• Monitor equipment used to ensure it is operated within its rated capacities.
• Maintain a good working relationship with Local Unions, trade schools, and skilled craft community to find and hire the most qualified operator candidates for Kokosing.
• Communicate needed repairs to ensure repair in a timely manner.
