About The Position

Georgia Nut Company (GNC) is a family-owned food manufacturing company, founded in 1945, that combines classic recipes with state-of-the-art equipment to produce confections and innovative snacks. Their mission is to provide a pleasurable eating experience through high-quality products and a commitment to excellence. The Sugar Shelling Machine Operator is responsible for managing the manual sugar shelling conventional panning process to create high-quality finished goods, while also striving for continuous improvement. This role involves working with the operations team to operate shelling equipment according to customer specifications, maintaining GNC's 5s standards, completing necessary paperwork, reporting inefficiencies, ensuring accurate inventory, adhering to GNC's general manufacturing practices (GMPs), and following sanitation and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be well-organized with high attention to detail
  • Ability to successfully prioritize workload
  • The ability to perform basic math and reading skills, such as: reading labels, formulas, and directions
  • Ability to perform basic Knowledge of measurement, percentages, and ratios
  • Ability to communicate and write effectively in English
  • Flexible working hours for a seven-day operation
  • Dependable and adaptable to a fast pace work environment

Responsibilities

  • Report food and quality issues as well as employee safety to their supervisor
  • Follow allergen procedures and perform sanitation steps as trained
  • Follow all formulas and customer specifications as described in the billing of materials
  • Meet/exceed efficiencies while communicating inefficiencies (down time)
  • Document all production, quality, safety, and sanitation reports accurately and clearly
  • Clock/tag in and out of proper departments as required
  • Start, stop, adjust, and operate machine using approved methods, supervisor/lead when repairs or adjustments are beyond the scope of their expertise
  • Train and assist other employees as needed
  • Present continuous improvement ideas to supervisor or department lead
  • Maintain 5s by keeping work area clean and organized
  • Validate transfers, consume correctly, and keep accurate inventory
  • Follow all general manufacturing practices (GMPs) and comply with GNC policies and procedures
  • Report scrap according to procedure and always run retain if needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/lead
