About The Position

The Operator/Packer works collaboratively with other associates, maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work area. A key responsibility is inspecting product quality and setting aside any items below standard. The position requires close collaboration with Leads, alerting them to quality issues or reject conditions promptly. The Operator/Packer must also notify the Team Leader of any concerns related to safety, machinery, raw materials, quality, maintenance, packaging, or documentation. Accurate documentation of production and downtime is essential. Responsibilities include completing product assembly by installing gaskets and handles, and potentially flame treating containers and lids. The role involves stacking and packing product according to customer and order-specific instructions, and preparing product identification and packaging labels. During machine interruptions, the Operator/Packer is expected to utilize time for cleanup, sweeping, mopping, box making, or other assigned tasks by the Shift Supervisor. Housekeeping within the assigned machine's working area is a key responsibility. The role may also involve assisting with training other associates and performing various other assigned duties.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect product to insure quality; set aside product that is below quality standards.
  • Work closely with Leads and alert the Team Leader or Supervisor of any quality issues or reject conditions.
  • Notify the Team Leader of any safety, machinery, raw material, quality, preventive maintenance, emergency maintenance, packaging or documentation concerns.
  • Document information correctly on the reports for production and any downtime.
  • Complete assembly of product by installing gaskets in lids and handles in containers as required while keeping up with the production machines cycles.
  • Flame containers and lids when required.
  • Stack and pack product per instructions that vary with different customers and orders.
  • Prepare proper product identification and/or packaging labels.
  • Utilize time during machine interruptions to clean up oil, sweep, mop, make boxes or other tasks as assigned by the Shift Supervisor.
  • Responsible for housekeeping within working area of assigned machine.
  • Assist with training associates as needed.
  • Various other duties as assigned.
