About The Position

This position is located on-site in our Bayou La Batre shipyard. The Operator/Material Handling role requires fundamental knowledge of rigging, equipment operator functions, and qualifications. The employee ensures only qualified personnel operate equipment and reviews heavy lift plans with engineering and production personnel. The role also involves inspecting rigging equipment and ensuring daily equipment inspections are completed.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in equipment operations
• Must have a valid State issued Driver’s License

Nice To Haves

• Class A CDL desirable.
• National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fundamental knowledge of rigging, Equipment Operator functions and qualifications
• Experience operating and maintaining forklifts, Rough Terrain Cranes, Crawler Cranes, OTR trucks and trailers and Marine Travel lift.
• Provides Rigging guidance and inspections.
• Must be able to follow schedules and deadlines.
• Inspects Rigging straps, wire ropes and chains before using.
• Periodically lubricates equipment.
• Must be able to work safely and promote a safety conscience culture, understand standard flagging hand signals.
• Employee insures only qualified personnel operate equipment.
• Reviews heavy lift plans with engineering and production personnel
• Must be able to read and comprehend equipment load charts and operating guidelines.
• Ensures equipment is inspected Daily before operation.
• Inspects rental equipment at delivery and prepares for return to rental agency.
