The Operator in Training (OIT) program is designed to develop candidates' skills and knowledge necessary for a career as a Wastewater Operator. This program combines classroom, online, and on-the-job training to prepare participants for a Wisconsin Wastewater Operator certification. Trainees will gain hands-on experience at various facilities, including Jones Island WRF, South Shore WRF, and the Collection System, exposing them to diverse working conditions such as dirt, dust, extreme temperatures and humidity, odors, heights, confined spaces, gases, and raw sewage.
