About The Position

They are looking for an Operator III (Lead Operator) to join their team in Reno, NV. This role involves overseeing hourly employees to ensure the production of high-quality products at the lowest possible cost, meeting company standards, customer specifications, and delivery requirements. The ideal candidate will have the technical ability to operate various converting and finishing equipment, understand and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures, and train other employees. This position requires leadership qualities, the ability to analyze issues and implement solutions, and a focus on continuous improvement and waste reduction.

Requirements

  • Technical ability to operate all types of converting line and finishing equipment within Pregis standards for waste, quality and productivity.
  • Understands and adheres to all Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Ability to set up and operate all special functions and capabilities with minimal supervision or direction.
  • Ability to train other employees when requested or required.
  • Ability to analyze issues, determine, and implement solutions.
  • Consistently demonstrates leadership qualities.
  • Ability to read and understand all information on job ticket pertaining to a specific job.
  • Ability to achieve print quality and register equipment to produce required quality and can achieve acceptable registration within specified M/R standards.
  • Complete understanding and ability to operate all line ancillary equipment.
  • Ability to effectively set up and operate all inline equipment (i.e., gluing, Labeling, Straub Applicators etc.) as well as rotary cutter with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of tension controls and ancillary equipment.
  • Knowledge of how to web up the line, capable of setting cylinders and plates.
  • Ability to perform minor mechanical repairs and adjustments.
  • Ability to efficiently operate in line systems with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain 100% of standards in productivity, waste, and quality standards.
  • Ability to accurately enter all codes for quantities, materials, and times onto required paperwork.
  • Ability to accurately track line counts.
  • Ability to perform necessary functions to operate the line with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and promote an environment for learning and process improvement.
  • Ability to consistently look for improvements and efficiencies to reduce waste and increase production within quality standards set.
  • Works within all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ability to ensure the maintenance of departmental housekeeping standards.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Ability to interact well between shifts to gain and pass along all information to facilitate a smooth transition without interruption.
  • Ability to take coaching well and communicates respectfully with others.
  • Ability to effectively and respectfully communicate with team and during shift transition.
  • Knowledgeable of safety requirements and guidelines in manufacturing/warehouse environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow standardized work instructions and adhere to safe work practices in a continuous improvement culture.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 5-7 years of progressive responsibility and/or related experience.
